George Karl Has a Long History Of His Players Calling Him a Snake

ESPN - The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Sacramento Kings forwardDeMarcus Cousins, as ESPN’s Marc Stein has reported, and are willing to give up the No. 2 pick for him, but a source close to the Kings tells ESPN’s Chris Broussard that owner Vivek Ranadive will not allow coach George Karl to trade Cousins. Yahoo! Sports reported Monday night that Karl is pushing the Kings to trade Cousins. When the Kings hired Karl in the spring, there was pushback from Cousins’ camp, and the Sacramento Bee reported that Cousins and Karl haven’t spoken for months.

Few things here. For starters, DeMarcus Cousins should be doing everything in his power to get traded. The Kings are about to turn into the worst team in the NBA because of their terrible owner Vivek Ranadive. Vivek fired Mike Malone, a coach all the players liked and played hard for, after he started the season 11-13. One reason is because Malone wouldn’t be a fuck boy for Vivek, who is quickly approaching Jerry Jones levels of control on the team. Among other things, Vivek is pushing for the Kings to play 4 vs 5 on defense and leave one guy down court cherry picking. Add on top of that the fact George Karl and Cousins hate each other’s guts and Boogie definitely wants nothing to do with Sacramento. But it’s not like Cousins is the first player to call Karl a snake. There’s a long history of that. Pretty telling of his reputation:

Think star players like playing for George Karl? I’m going to go with no on that one. The problem with Cousins tweeting that is now the Kings don’t have any leverage. Every other team knows he’s disgruntled and a cancer to the locker room, so they will be trying to get him at a reduced price. It looks like right now it’s either going to be the Lakers or Knicks, but you never know who else might get involved now that he needs to be moved.

PS: The more you know.
